28 weeks!
All we can say is wow. Twenty-eight weeks have arrived. Every DAY now counts as this child gets bigger, stronger and increasingly ready to enter this world. I had a number of tests yesterday to check baby and myself and the only big revelation was that I was a little low on iron which isn't a big surprise given my skin's present reflective quality. Bring on the steak!! And Guinness - no wait, must wait a little while longer for that. I was also given another round of antenatal steroids which are designed to help baby's lungs develop more rapidly should s/he decide to arrive early. Other than my 2 sore hips, there are not any significant detrimental side effects to me or baby. As Chris hurries to get our home ready for a new little bean, I remain parked on the couch where baby and I grow larger every day. The picture here of me actually dressed and out and about was merely a function of traveling to and from the hospital. Do not be disillusioned! Bedrest is what it is. An average day looks like:
630 am Jack wakes
8am I get out of bed
Every couple of days I TREAT myself to a shower
On couch by 830
Breakfast brought to me on couch
Remain on couch until bathroom calls
Return to couch
Lunch again served at couch
Remain on couch until C&J return home
Play with Jack while on couch or Jack's bed
If I'm feeling up to it I have dinner at the table with C&J
Return to couch until time for bed
I fill my couch time with magazines, phone calls, HGTV decorating and TLC shows, paying bills, internet surfing/shopping, Facebook, and this Blog apparently. I believe after the baby is born I will be avoiding the couch for quite some time.
Jack is being ever so patient and helpful - when he chooses to - and kindly carts my dishes back to the kitchen (has only broken one so far but Chris took the blame so Jack wouldn't get upset - how sweet!), brings me the phone and rubs my belly when kissing baby goodnight. Even more sweet.
